"The American market for wireless smut is practically untouched...The time has arrived for you to adapt and adopt wireless." |
Technology is so fucking cool. Today, we can send out waves that transform into images, audio and text and people can see and read them from cell phones, PDAs and notebook computers! This is flying car stuff if you think about it. We may not be air-bound but we’re certainly wireless.
What does it mean to be wireless?
Wireless means to transmit or receive a signal without a line like a phone line or television cable. A wireless device will have a receiver or a transmitter or both. That device is capable of receiving data and/or transmitting it via electromagnetic waves. Thanks to advanced technology such as satellites, we can send signals and communicate wirelessly through networks, cellular phones, cordless mouses, remote control-units, television dish receivers and the World Wide Web.
Why should an adult webmaster care about wireless technology?
Because Local Area Network nodes -known as HotSpots- are popping up everywhere. Because people are investing in devices that can connect by way of WI-FI/WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network) enabled notebooks and cellphones. Because 3G (Third Generation) wireless that’s both high-speed and interoperable with a variety of devices and networks, is a reality. Because cities like Philadelphia, Cleveland, New York and Dallas have or are already putting up thousands of wireless transmitters in what’s called a “wireless mesh”. Because individual users are installing home networks that connect all their devices through wireless routers. Because fee-based wireless providers are going to have to lower access prices in order to compete with the free hotspots of ‘meshed’ cities. Because when wireless works, it’s speedier and easier and mobile.
Porn surfers can do more than explore the web with a wireless computer. They can download porn images and text to their PDAs and cellular telephones. They can pay for adult toys and products with SMS (Short Messaging Service) and/or Reverse billing. The newest craze of porn blogging is made for wireless cellphones and PDA’s. Thousands of fans read blogs on these small appliances. The future foresees handheld hardware that can render streaming content over a wireless network, from almost anywhere in the world. Larry Flynt himself said:
"Wireless is extremely intriguing because it has no bounds and provides constant, easy access."
The beauty part is this new medium is still unsaturated by pornographers. A minimal few have recognized the potential of wireless smut, especially in the US. In March 2004, UK carrier, Virgin Mobile, adopted an Opt-In policy for adult services. PalmStories has been running a successful pay service for two years. Other providers marketing to hand-held wireless are Pocket-XXX and QueerPalm. However, the American market for wireless smut is practically untouched.
Since hand-held browsers and Operating Systems understand WAP (Wireless Application Protocol), pages can be created in easy-to-learn languages like XML (eXtensible Markup Language) and WML (Wireless Markup Language). Palm’s Tungsten C model contains a 400MHz processor along with 64 Megs of RAM. Today’s PDA’s perform like mini-versions of recent desktop models. Their capabilities will only improve.
PDA porn offers more privacy for the customer that needs extra isolation from prying eyes at work and home. Wireless porn allows notebook users to get their rocks off anywhere there’s a hotspot and a little bit of seclusion. You can take wireless payments with SMS solutions like MO (Mobile Originated) Billing and MT (Mobile Terminated) Billing. What’s more you can offer adult entertainment that customers can access anytime, anywhere.
There’s a lot to learn about the wireless world. There are different standards for WLAN, namely 802.11a, 802.11b, 802.11g, and Bluetooth.
There are myriad ways people use their wireless equipment. Images designed for WAP pages are created in the WBMP (Wireless BitMap) format. Research firm In-Stat/MDR predicts that by 2009, the worldwide wireless market will grow to more than 2.5 billion subscribers. Cities across the US are striving hard to catch up to wired ones like Portland, Oregon. The price of connection is dropping and the quality of the hardware keeps growing.
The time has arrived for you to adapt and adopt wireless. If you wait too long you’ll miss out again, like many of us did in the early days of Internet porn. Adult webmasters, wireless could be your new 1995!
