** Continued From: A Woman Working in Porn! - Part #1
If you’re still with me for part two of this two-part article then I didn’t piss you off and moan too much. You know how we women can go on. Kidding.
Here’s the thing. Before I started working in Internet porn, I kind of hated men. Now I like them. Go figure.

"The fact is, the adult Internet is bountiful with talented, smart and capable women, both in front of the camera and behind the monitor." |
When I was in my super-duper feminist phase, I saw male-based conspiracy everywhere. Before I entered the smut business, I had no idea how little I knew about men. I was never completely sold on the idea that all porn demeaned women. But then, I’ve had jobs that were pretty damned demeaning without the sex and nudity. I’ve had just gobs of sex with bunches of guys but I’ve never managed to stick with one guy for very long. I used to blame this on the gobs of sex but thanks to age, a kid and the Internet porn industry, I’ve come to realize that I never knew men at all.
I owe a lot to this business.
The adult Internet has given me the ability to live a fulfilling life. I’ve experienced more growth, recognition and respect working with adult webmasters than I ever had in any other job. The fact is, the adult Internet is bountiful with talented, smart and capable women, both in front of the camera and behind the monitor. The women of Internet porn encompass ladies of all ages, sizes and skills. I find it ironic that the people most offended by me are feminists.
Of course, I have to contend with religious zealots and sexists but as a women and a feminist, I’ve always had to contend with those types. That’s why I find it so amazing that some of my sisters condemn me for doing the most satisfying work I’ve done in years.
I try to clarify their misconceptions about the Internet porn industry. I tell them that porn actresses are freer because of Internet smut. The prostitute being forced to turns tricks by her pimp or the babe made to fuck on film for the mob are rare situations in our profession. Internet porn models can build their own sites, be in control of the content and level of sexual exposure. Twenty years ago, if a gal wanted to make a living as a porn star, she had to work for someone else, usually a man. Today, women don’t just run little webcam paysites, some of them run the most powerful companies in this sector of commerce.
I tell the feminists that there are female webmasters, site designers and content producers. I tell them that my male peers respect me and they respect the women who model as well as those that run the businesses. I tell them there are thousands and thousands of women out there, taking charge of their lives and their careers and making more money in Internet porn than they have ever made before.
Just the same, some of these Andrea Dworkin fans won’t listen. They tell me I’m a traitor to the cause because porn demeans women. I tell them that it demeans men too but that doesn’t play. I tell them there’s gay porn and lesbian porn and I ask if it’s demeaning. They tell me to stay on topic. I tell them that Internet porn is far less concerned with female stereotypes like blonde, skinny and busty. I tell them about BBW sites and Dom sites and sites where women are actually enjoying sex while getting paid. Nothing sinks in.
Then I get a little sad because I do see sexism within our industry. While some of it comes from the guys, a good bit of it comes from my female peers. I have observed a lot of disdain directed at Internet porn models and a good bit of that dissing is coming from the gals. I don’t get upset when a male webmaster asks to see my tits. I don’t go off on some tangent about how I am a lady and a technician and not some “slut”. I don’t think of the women that pose before the cameras as sluts. I see them as the very reason I have job.
Hey, I’m not forgetting the guys of our field. You know who you are. However, I’ve come to accept that men are pigs. It was the most liberating revelation I’ve had since I was in my twenties. Men are nasty and they have dirty minds and thank heavens they do or we would all be out of business.
So, fuck the feminists! Fuck the men! Fuck everybody! I am a Woman Working in Porn. I’m free. I'm financially stable. I can be myself without having to hide my girly ways. I can do my job and live my life. That my friends, is true liberation!
