Vendor is another name for supplier or service. A seller.

A clip is a portion of a whole. A video clip is a small portion of a full-length movie. On the net, video takes longer to download and uses more server space/bandwidth than static images. Webmasters use small clips of adult video on movie galleries as well as for advertising. Virtual
A state that resembles reality but is not reality, not physical. Cyberspace is called virtual reality. When you buy shared hosting, you have access to space on a server in another location. Shared hosting is sometimes called virtual hosting. Cyberspace is a virtual world.
Virtual Community
Any place online where people communicate with each other in a group. Some are more elaborate than others, such as Yahoo Groups. Many are simply online message boards like Cozy Campus.
Visit
The number of individual users visiting a page in one day, typically identified by IP address.
Volume
A sales/marketing term referring to amounts. Either amounts of customers, amounts of sales or amounts of product. A seller with a lot of traffic would have 'high-volume' traffic. A lucky webmaster with lots of signups would have 'high-volume' sales.
WAP
Wireless Access Protocol. WAP is the protocol standard wireless devices used to communicate on the web and email.
WAP Codes
WAP stands for Wireless Application Protocol. WAP is a standard specification used to interpret Internet sites from wireless devices such a cell phones and hand-held computers.
Warez
Illegal software. A person will remove the copyright protection from a program and then offer it for download from a website or news group. Sometimes a warez webmaster gets mean and includes a virus or worm within the download. Warez are not the way to go.
Warning Page
Warning Page or Enter Page, the page before a surfer views the main content of your site. The warning page usually displays a statement noting that the material the surfer is about to view is adult oriented. The purpose of a warning page is to keep under aged surfers from accessing your adult site. Warning Pages are very important.
Web Host
A company that will put your website on their server so the world can view it. Basically a home for your site on the web.
Whistle Blowing
The act of exposing misdeeds. An employee who exposes abuse by their employer is called a whistle blower.
White Space
White space is a design term that describes the unused areas on a book, magazine, or Web page. It does not necessarily mean that the "white space" is actually white in color. White space, negative space, or, in letterforms, counterspace, it's the part of the design that "isn't" there.
WHOIS
WHOIS is a program that will locate and display the registration information of a second level domain name. An example of a second level domain is Yahoo.com. The dot com portion of the domain is the top level. The Yahoo part is the second level and belongs to whomever registers it and continues to pay the fees for it. A WHOIS lookup will tell you who has registered a second level domain. You can find a WHOIS lookup tool on almost any domain name registrar.
Wireless
When a signal is carried by electromagnetic waves instead of through a line or cord. A remote control operates wirelessly. A cell phone operates wirelessly.
WYSIWYG
WYSIWYG is an acronym for What You See Is What You Get. WYSIWYG refers to a software environment when you see the end result as you create, instead of viewing code. There are many WYSIWYG HTML editing programs such as Microsoft Front Page.

When you build a webpage you build it with HTML language. A WYSIWYG editor already knows the code and lets you drag and drop elements onto your page without having to know HTML. It's very easy to use but it's always better to know your HTML codes.
ZIP File
A type of file that usually contains a number of files compressed making them easier to transfer via e-mail or the net. You can open or create ZIP files with a program called WinZip which you can download at WinZip.com
