Las Vegas is a hell of a town. Vegas went from deserted desert to a modern day Rome in a short fraction of the time it took to build the first one. We don’t yet know if the Mecca for tourists the world over will live as long as Rome but it certainly hasn’t slowed in growth.
Twenty-five years ago, Las Vegas was an awesome sight to behold. With it’s strip of lavish hotels and a downtown so brightly lit, nighttime was indistinguishable from day, Sin City dropped droves of jaws. Now it looks as if someone took all the monuments of the entire world and planted them on the strip. Vegas’ skyline resembles a city disguised as an amusement park. Unlike Disney World, (which is an amusement park disguised as a city) Las Vegas has legalized gambling and hookers! Vegas promises the best of times and the naughtiest of times.
Las Vegas is terribly hot in the summer but in the fall and early winter, the weather is sweet and the lights are somehow brighter. This fall and early winter, Vegas will also be the playground for the adult/Internet/computer industry. Some really big shows are coming up: AdultDex in November and Internext in January. Both are big shows but they are different in their offerings. Both have their strong and weak points and both will be held in that Rome in the desert, Las Vegas.
AdultDex is the original conference. AdultDex was started back in the nineties because the vendors of mature computer-based entertainment got kicked out of Comdex. Beginning as a showcase for adult print and film, AdultDex gathers more online porn sponsors, marketers and other Internet particular participants each year. This year for an attendee fee of only $15.00 a day you'll get a pass to a showroom full of real porn stars and industry players. Since Cybernet Expo has taken AdultDex under their wing their efforts have vastly begun to cater to the Internet faction of adult proprietors. Python will host workshops and you'll get a chance to learn from more panel discussions than ever before. If you call the special number listed on the AdultDex site, you can even get a special rate for a room at the world-famous Tropicana. Oh, and Comdex is going on at the same time as the AdultDex/Cybernet Expo. Maybe you can catch a glimpse of their featured speaker, some guy named Bill.
Some say this is the ultimate adult webmaster conference. Internext has definitely solidified itself in the annals of cyber porn history. It may not get the press coverage that AdultDex does but online porn peddlers tend to like the anonymity that Internext provides.
One person cannot physically attend all the events that go on at Internext. Aside from the required naked babes and freebies, the parties at Internext are part of online smut myth. If you prepay for a showroom or showroom/seminar combo pass from their site before October 31, 2002, you'll save twenty-five dollars. Other than that, the fee for the seminars + exhibition is $275.00 and the exhibition alone will set you back $150.00. Exhibitors span the range from content providers to hosts to message board wise asses.
This year, Internext is promising and incredible 12 seminars. They've got special reduced rates set up with the gorgeous Venetian Hotel just for you, which you can find through the hotel accommodations! link posted on their front page. Be prepared to pay a minimum of $150.00-$250.00 per night to stay at the Venetian.
Of course there are other shows, but there’s only one Vegas. Pagan adult webmasters and Sin City go hand in hand like gambling and hookers. By no means are we implying that the other gatherings and conventions the adult Internet hosts are somehow lesser. In fact, a good many online porn merchants prefer the smaller venues, as they are more intimate and conducive to better networking.
The constraints of distance keep those who don’t reside in the US away so they hold their own huge and fabulous blowouts. All these assemblies and conferences are important to attend. Just the same, legends have been built around the Vegas shows. Maybe it’s because we came, we saw and we have digital pictures to prove it. Perhaps it might be because they were held in Las Vegas.
