    Choose Content Wisely!
    By Titmowse | Writer @ CozyFrog | JUN.20.2006

"You found a niche. Congratulations. There's about a kajillion niches out there and choosing one is just the first step. The real work comes with knowing the needs of your niche surfers."
Adult webmasters have many advantages over smut-sellers in the physical world. The porn shop owner has to lease land and either build or rent a building in order to open a business. The dirty movie house must make sure their space complies with construction and zoning codes. The adult toy store merchant has to buy tangible goods up front so they may have inventory for their shelves. These real-world proprietors are usually forced to carry a generalized spectrum of products as opposed to niche products. Quite often, these venues are the only game in town and therefore, must appeal to everyone instead of a targeted few.

The adult webmaster can build any site he/she wants, in any way he/she wants. Link site, TGP site, free site, paysite, it's all good. When the webmaster needs venue space, it's just a matter of registering a domain, opening a hosting account and a minimum investment of $20.00. As for design, the webmaster has no use for architects or building contractors. Thousands of webmasters erect their own venues without ever lifting a hammer. Those that prefer someone else do the job hire professional designers for an insignificant cost, in comparison to their brick-and-mortar counterparts. As for content, this is where the adult webmaster is assuredly free from constraint.

At Cozy Frog, we advise you to work with content that you like. We recommend you work with content you favor, not because you'll be happy or saved from viewing unappealing images. We recommend working with a niche you enjoy, because doing so will give you the perspective of your surfers.

Marketing porn successfully on the web is hard. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Any schmoe can slap some pics and ad banners on a webpage. To make money, to make a living requires time, effort, skill and deep familiarity with the needs of your chosen audience. You can't sell MILF porn to MILF lovers when you don't understand what makes them love MILF porn.

As mentioned, an adult webmaster can market any type of porn he or she wants to market. The brick-and-mortar porn seller does not have this freedom. These earth-bound smutmeisters have to stock the products that attract the finite customers within a geographic location. The porn webmaster has a world of tastes from which to choose a clientele. The smut shop owner might carry a few copies of a MILF porn magazine or video. The adult webmaster can reach every single MILF porn lover on the planet. Even if the shop owner wanted to specialize in MILF porn, he would have a hard time finding a steady supply of product because producing such content in print and video is so expensive. Whereas the adult webmaster can find and buy all the MILF porn he or she needs in inexpensive, digital format.

Unfortunately, too many adult webmasters try to market certain niches because they have heard that the niche is a profitable one. Webmasters will sell gay porn without knowing a damned thing about it. They try to make money with bondage content yet have no idea what makes the bondage lover tick. Far too many adult webmasters commit the fatal sin of choosing content based on their personal tastes as opposed to the actual preferences of their targeted audience.

You found a niche. Congratulations. There's about a kajillion niches out there and choosing one is just the first step. The real work comes with knowing the needs of your niche surfers. You want to sell ebony content because you heard that there's money to be made in ebony. But do you know why surfers look for ebony porn? Here's a hint: Big Booty. You might be an ass lover. However, if you're not fond of big, bouncy butts and you buy only images of models with boyish butts, you're probably not going to sell many memberships to ebony paysites.

The same can be said of any other porn niche. If you've decided to promote twink content, you need to buy twink content. You need to know what twink content looks like. You need to comprehend the difference between a twink and a hunk. You need to be able to recognize a good twink model from a mediocre one. If you can't stand to even look at twink pics, then you've got no business selling to twink lovers. Twink lovers might be fools for a cute face but they're not foolish enough to buy from a seller with no respect for the niche.

Choose your content wisely. Make sure that the images and videos you use are right for your target audience. You're not selling to yourself. You're selling to your surfers. Give them just enough of what they crave and then make them pay to see more!
